JESSICA BIEL is set to add designer to her resume, by creating a range of handbags for her boyfriend JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE’s fashion line.
The William Rast company Timberlake founded with his pal Trace Ayala currently specialises in denim, jackets and tops.
But Biel is a handbag fanatic and wants to join in the fun. Sources claim she has already started sketching designs for a limited edition collection. An insider tells Star magazine, “Jessica is casual when it comes to clothes, but she loves bags.”
Straight to the point. As an American girl, what do you think of us English blokes?
They’re very funny, self-deprecating. Maybe a bit shy. I was going to say American men are a lot more cocky, but I have met English guys who are so in your face.
Your new film, Easy Virtue, is a Noel Coward farce. Are you a fan of witty English comedies?
I do really like that kind of machine-gun dialogue. Though sometimes I can’t understand it. There were scenes in Atonement where I was like, “Wait. Rewind…” It’s not the accent, it’s like a mumbling quality. I sometimes put the subtitles on!
Is it harder to do than an action film like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre?
Running round screaming with no dialogue was one of the hardest things I’ve done.
What’s so hard about it?
Just maintaining that kind of emotion once my friends start getting killed and this guy is chasing me . You get to work at 9am, you feel great, you look great, you’ve just had breakfast and then you have to go, “Aaaaaaaaahhh!”
Here you’re learning the cancan instead…
I loved doing the cancan. I got such a kick out of it. And I got to keep my pants on.
Actually, don’t you kill a dog in Easy Virtue? With your bum?
I do. That’s a really bad way to go. I’m not a person who would ever want to kill an animal. It was a devastating scene [laughs].
Be honest: have you ever killed an animal?
I was in the car when a bird was run over. But I wasn’t driving, so I was an accessory to murder. It’s very sad.
Do you think you have more credibility as an actress now?
I do. But I still feel there’s a preconception about me. Not a lot of people saw The Illusionist, but a lot saw I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry. So people think, “Oh, yeah, well, she’s not like those good actresses, she’s just that actress.” So that’s the problem, and I’m trying to make the right choices to change that .
What’s your next film?
A crazy satire about the American health care system, Nailed. I play a waitress who gets a nail shot in her head and it keeps changing her personality. It is like playing four different people. She is full of rage, then inspired, then really horny.
You’ve used body doubles before. Would you go nude on screen?
I’ve just done it, in a film called Powder Blue. It was cathartic to explore that idea of being exposed on screen. I feel totally justified about it.
Do you get paid more?
I got nothing! Those parts are usually in a minuscule dark independent thing and you’ll get paid nothing.
Do you keep in shape?
Yeah, very normal, nothing outrageous, like two or three days a week. It’s more mental. Working out in the morning gives me so much energy. I feel strong all day instead of hitting a low after lunch.
Have you missed out on any big roles?
I auditioned for Quantum of Solace. I actually had a good audition. It was that sexy, “I’m cool and I’m going to pretend like I really don’t like you, but I’m definitely going to sleep with you.” Maybe next time. We’ll see.

Looks like Jessica Biel has even more in common with her boyfriend, Justin Timberlake: She’s a recording artist.
The actress visited the NightBird recording studios at the Sunset Marquis Hotel on Oct. 9 to lay down a couple tracks.
Biel did “an amazing job,” her rep, Michelle Aselta, tells PEOPLE of the actress’s singing for her upcoming role in Easy Virtue, a remake of a 1928 Alfred Hitchcock film, costarring Colin Firth.
Though JT wasn’t there to give her tips, Biel, 26, was happy to sing into the wee hours.
“Everyone at the studio said, ‘Some girls have everything,’” says her rep. “Jessica Biel is dating a gorgeous guy, she’s a great actress – and she can sing.”
This isn’t her first time belting out a tune: As a kid, she did musicals like Annie and Beauty and the Beast.
So does Biel see pop stardom in her future?
“I’m not sure,” says Aselta, “but I’m sure dating Justin will probably have some influence in that!”
Jessica Biel is on Marie Claire December 2008 magazine cover. Below you can see the cover of Marie Claire December 2008 issue and some excerpts from the interview:
On Posing for photographers
It’s taken a few years to feel comfortable doing that sort of stuff. Even now I still feel sort of ridiculous.
On music
I like all that fun music, lots of old-school stuff and yes, some Whitesnake. Absolutely.
On her recent interest in popular music
I was sick and tired of not knowing who people were talking about.
On becoming a movie star
I never thought to myself, “I’m going to do this musical, then I’m going to be a movie star” I never made that jump.
For a very long time I wasn’t thought of as anyone with any credibility in the film world. Everyone is tramping through the swamp everyday in this business.
On working in TV
I was really up tight, when you work on television for a long time you’re in a really organised situation; in film, it’s so much more improvisational and relaxed.
On being in the film ‘The Illusionist’
I was so thrilled to get that part, it was such a joy for me, oh it was great.
On asked how she feels about aging: her biggest fear in life
I don’t know - I better start figuring it out. I feel my knees changing – like, why do I have this pain when I’m running on the treadmill? What’s going on with my lower back when I wake up in the morning? I just feel changes
I’m definitely fearful in a very vain manner about aging. I think its freaky weird to look at a picture of your grandmother when she was a young woman then look at her now.
On plastic surgery
I’m really afraid of blades on my face. That freaks me out beyond belief. I would way rather have wrinkles than some slice up going on.
On her high profile status
It’s hard. The hardest part of this whole wonderful, bizarre lifestyle and profession. You have to be Zen about it, because it can make you crazy.
On Marriage and having kids
I kind of go back and fourth about marriage and kids. I feel like if it’s an organic way for me and the right time in my life then yeh. If it’s right, it’ll be right – but at this moment, that seems totally foreign.
I have so many friends having babies and getting married and they just want to put me where they are so we can go to nursery together and stuff. I’m like Noooo! I’m resisting.
